Regardless of whether your mobile device shipped with a dedicated music jukebox, Pocket Tunes still makes a strong case for itself as an alternative solution. After you've imported MP3, WMA, or OGG files to your Palm's expansion card, the program will immediately recognize them once you start it up. We like the app's stylish skinned interface, which boasts a metallic design scheme and a green LCD that shows track time, a volume indicator, and basic song information such as bit rate. Pocket Tunes lets you set up playlists, bookmark tracks, and shuffle songs. Even better, it also provides a crossfade feature; bass and volume boosts; and a five-band equalizer that lets you save presets. Power-saving options let you turn off playback after a certain number of minutes or when the battery gets low. Music fans searching a functional player with a few unexpected niceties will find that Pocket Tunes makes a quality addition to their Palm.
