Manual Installation: Unzip the archive, replace the existing file in the program folder and restart Ad-Aware\Ad-Watch. "Awesome as about the only way to sort Adware & Viruses without hogging the comp."

Pros: This program only runs when you need it where vertually all others run in the background and slow computers far too much hogging the task manager!!!
Anyone with Adaware SE already needs to remove the old unzipped file in your drive inside the main Adaware SE file, then you can start Adaware SE and immediately check for updates to get this latest file installed instead - for me trying to Download it here fails every time this way.

Cons: No Automatic Update is a total pain that Lavasoft could fix but don't bother to do as like all others are wanting people to pay for the same thing but running your computer bad and meaning you could be better off without any of them if your ISP is like ours that has email checkers and using good logic you don't go on weird sites.

Pros: SIMPLE! IT's Quick, IT's Simple & IT Does The Job! It Does Not HOG The Machine! It Does What It Say's On The Tin. BUT, Read The CONS!

Cons: Read This For The Answers! File Corrupt? OR System Requirements WRONG!? The ANSWER As To WHY This Works For SOME People & NOT OTHERS!??

In Short, The Test Results I Have Found :-

All Current & Previous "def.ref" files work on Windows XP PRO. However, The LAST one that worked on Windows 98SE was (SE1R243) 30 04 2008, You Get The Notice "Not Able To Read Definition File, Bad Data OR Corrupt File!?"

Therefore I Conclude & Predict The Following :-

Pre & Including April's Definition File Will Work On "ALL" Operating System's In AD-AWARE SE (No Problems), But, Post April's Definition File's "WILL ONLY" Work On Windows Later Systems! (The Problem!)

To Summarise :-

What Operating System Are YOU! Using With AD-AWARE SE When Installing The "def.ref" File!?

Is It That When The Above States "Requirements: Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP" That This MAY be RIGHT For The Program, BUT, MAY Be WRONG For The "def.ref" File!?

Whilst I am very grateful to the provider's of this FREE! "def.ref" file as I'm assured many of us deeply are!?

THANK YOU! VERY MUCH INDEED FOR THIS FILE! WHO EVER YOU ARE!? CNET & LAVASOFT!?

HOWEVER, Put Simply: A Duff File Won't Make Us Buy The "Full Ad-Aware 2008" Version When You Can Get "A-Squared" (Recommended By Myself & Others Who Are Now Using This!?) & Lots Of Others Too Absolutly FREE!

WOULDN'T IT BE SIMPLER TO SAVE THE EAR-ACHE! & SAVE THE CUSTOMERS!? FROM GOING ELSEWHERE!? WHEN YOU HAVE BUILT UP A CUSTOMER BASE OF TRUST!, FAITH!, CONFIDENCE!, HOPE! & RESPECT!!
(CNET! & LAVASOFT!) A SHAME TO WASTE THE HARD WORK!? ISN'T IT!?

SO, WHY NOT JUST FIX THE PROBLEM THAT PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT FOR MONTHS DIRECTLY TO YOUR ESABLISHMENT'S!?

"Corrupt File continues"

Cons: I have not had a good definition file download in several months. What is the problem with the file? To large, bad data? It seems some people are able to use it and some can't.
