- "A must-have"
This free software lets you view and print Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files. As the open standard for worldwide electronic document distribution, Adobe PDF files preserve all the formatting, the graphics and the colors of the original document, so Acrobat users know they're delivering the exact same presentation to everyone. Adobe Acrobat Reader offers several display options at different zoom levels depending on the documents need for exacting details. A full-screen mode lets you view documents without distraction. You can also complete and submit PDF forms online, a feature that will become more useful as companies adopt the technology.
The completely redesigned interface in this latest version feels more intuitive and offers tools for viewing information more efficiently. Another welcome addition is Acrobat Reader's integration with Adobe Connect, which lets users instantly comment and collaborate on projects with online presentations and live online meetings. We noticed that Acrobat Reader uses a significant chunk of memory in our processes list, but with the way Acrobat Reader is commonly used, memory issues probably won't be a problem for most users. Overall, Adobe Acrobat Reader provides users with the ability to view PDF files efficiently, with an interface and tools to make viewing both simple and painless. Though there are other PDF readers available that may take up less space or work at slightly faster speeds, none offer as much of a toolset as Acrobat Reader does nor seamless integration with other useful Adobe tools.

Version: Adobe Reader 8
Pros: Does what is expected.
Cons: Every version of this program seems to get worse. Memory hog. Foxit Reader is a great alternative.

Version: Adobe Reader 8
Pros: does as advertised
Cons: im sorry there is no reason for this to take up 20mbs just to dl, when foxit takes 1/5th that installed. can we say "bloatwear"? aol, msn, and yahoo have been known to have hidden adware in their programs and it looks like u can add adobe to the mix. enjoy the bloatwear and the 65+ mbs of space adobe reader takes, ill take foxit and its 4mbs of space. ill use my 60+mbs i save on programs that justify the space.

"Not a good PDF Reader and..."
Pros: Free.
Cons: This is not a good PDF reader and it hogs my RAM! Upon installation of this product, too slow!
You MUST have a high end PC processor to make this app fast to load.
I tried this to a Pentium 4 Processor, with clock of 2.3Ghz and there are no running apps or unimportant process, but it's still slow to load!
It also consumes more disk space than other reader.

Version: Adobe Reader 8
"Doesn't work with Vista (RC1)"
Pros: I upgraded to version 8 and it works with XP. Maybe it's because it's in beta form, I tried installing version 8 on Windows Vista Release Candidate 1 and it simply failed, it gave me an error of some sort. Maybe it's because it's not fully tested in Vista beta version. Anyhow, I think version 8 is more bloated than version 7.
Cons: Doesn't work with Vista RC1, more bloated.

Version: Adobe Reader 8
"um... this is a joke, right?"
Pros: Faster than before, nice UI.
Cons: Hideously bloated. A download of nearly 21 meg, and 117 meg installed. To do what? To _read_ PDFs.
I don't care about Adobe Connect or the supposed collaborative tools. I want something to read the occasional user manual, newsletter, or other such document. Would it have killed Adobe to also offer us a "lite" version? One without the monstrous overhead and all the gizmos most of us will never use?
