Publisher's description of Opera
From Opera Software:Opera aims to product the fastest and most powerful Web browser available and make the most of your time online. The latest release is even faster with better support for Web standards. Opera 9.5 is quicker to start, faster at loading Web pages and better at running your favorite Web applications. New features include Quick Find, which remembers not only the titles and addresses, but the actual content of the Web pages you visit, and Opera Link, which lets you access your favorite Web sites everywhere you go on all your computers and cell phones. Version 9.5 also adds a redesigned Address bar drop-down menu, and includes new storage and indexing formats for Opera Mail. Opera 9.52 is a security and stability upgrade.

- "Opera browser sings"
Opera 9.5 maintains the program's tradition of striving for the fastest, smallest, and most full-featured browser available. Opera covers the basics with tabbed browsing, mouse-over previews, a customizable search bar, advanced bookmarking tools, and simple integration with e-mail and chat clients. Mouse-gesture support, keyboard shortcuts, and drag-and-drop functionality round out the essentials.
Opera's extras push it to the top of the class. Integrated theme support previews themes from within the interface, and the new version sports a default redo that's an attractive balance between "dark" and "light" themes. Opera's desktop widgets can appear anywhere while Opera is running. The Wand utility combines autofill with saved passwords, and it's hard to ignore the addition of torrent support and real-time fraud protection. The latest version includes reasonable anti-malware protection courtesy Haute Secure.
The expanded features in 9.50 should make any non-believer do a double-take. Opera Link enables Bookmarks, the Personal bar, Speed Dial, and Notes synchronization across all other Opera instances. Quick Find improves the search tool, allowing for full text searching from the address field, the history panel, and opera:historysearch. The Status bar has been restored as a default, the Wand now lets users confirm a successful login before saving credentials, and spatial navigation--similar to Opera Mini and the Wii browser--has been introduced.
The new version is faster, has multiple back-end changes to handle code better, and overall we think Opera has what it takes to unseat even the biggest-name browsers. You just need to hear it sing.

Version: Opera 9.52
"IT'S GOOD AND IT'S GETTING BETTER BUT....."
Pros: This version i must admit is a great improvement on the last and it's getting faster. Also it does render pictures faster than Firefox which in itself is a good thing. Also i must take my hat off to Opera, as they obviously really trying hard to advance Opera in the browser market share.
Cons: Maybe it's my computer and the fact i don't have high speed internet i still feel Firefox is faster. Firefox still renders the pages faster too. For example on the BBC web site, Firefox just zips through the pages but Opera gets stuck on occasions.
Another big negative aspect is the fact i can't use Mcafee Siteadvisor with Opera.I depend heavily on it and i am wary of using Opera without it and have to stay within my trusted bookmarks whilst using Opera.
I know some people will disagree with the above, but i am sticking with my 'old favourite' Firefox for the foreseeable future!

Version: Opera 9.52
"I was just a little curious,so..."
Pros: I downloaded it and was amazed at how fast it is.
Cons: I confess that I`m another Firefox nut and would not really care to switch.8 was the last version of Opera that I test drove. This is a improvement but still no Firefox flexibility. One question, why is a Mozilla site preloaded into the bookmarks? As far as I know these Gecko type add ons cannot be used on Opera.Hmm?

Version: Opera 9.52
"Amazing, underrated browser."
Pros: (everything from the embedded first look video)
FireFox and Safari fans seem to generalize Opera as being the slowest browser available that's only a viable choice for systems severely lacking in memory, but it's clear from Version 9.5 that they're far from being correct, and this browser has what it takes to stand as more then just a memory efficient alternative.

Version: Opera 9.52
"I keep thinking about switching back to Firefox...but..."
Pros: I've been using Opera since 9.50 came out several weeks ago. I've tried several times to go back to Firefox. But if I do, I give up the ability to put any toolbar that I want at the bottom of the page...which I love to do. I'll have to give up the much-superior Opera skins that I've grown to love. I'll have to give up the faster start-up speed and the email notification that's built right in, via its email client. I'm learning Spanish, so I'll need to give up the ability to immediately translate English to Spanish or Spanish to English via the right-context menu.
To be honest, I just can't give up all that. Opera all the way!
