Handle a stack of huge files with ease, format text, use a spell-checker, and perform system-wide searches and multi-line global replacements. Build document templates, convert text to HTML on the fly, and take charge of your code with a bunch of handy HTML tools. Use a power-packed scripting language to create anything from a text macro to a mini-application. Version 5.41 adds the latest regex engine update and includes a number of minor improvements and bug fixes.

- "Powerful text editor proves beauty is only skin deep"
Once you explore the power of NoteTab Pro, you may find this text editor beautiful despite its off-putting interface. The Pro version adds tag highlighting and allows you to program your own features. The left-hand column displays a list of commands, called clips, that do anything from inserting bits of text to generating code. Each library, the roster of which appears as buttons at the bottom of the screen, contains its own set of clips. The FTP library, for example, lets you create server profiles, connect, upload and download files, and issue various commands. The publisher's site offers many user-created libraries, or you can make your own. You can create your own clips by pressing Ctrl-Alt-F2 and edit them easily.
The Tidy HTML clip (in the HTML and Utilities libraries) incorporates the free download HTML Tidy, available on Download.com. While the TopStyle library similarly requires a CSS editor of that name, we couldn't get it to work. We would like to see a trial of the spelling and thesaurus features, too. NoteTab Pro isn't a tool for casual users, but power users and programmers should find plenty to love.

"Feature Rich, Fast, and Easy to Use"
Pros: I've used this software for many years and upgraded to the Pro version. I even find it much faster to type my documents in NoteTab and import into Word later for final formatting. It has a nice 1-level hierarchical notes/outline feature, and great tools for stripping HTML, search & replace, and other text manipulation capabilities. The clipbook adds nice HTML and other coding tools for programmers, and the ability to create your own macros is a boon. Even the free version is worthy of use...
Cons: While the basics are easy to understand and use, there are a lot of features in this program that take some study to properly understand. The clipbook features, for example, were not intuitive to me although very powerful.
I still don't use this program to its full potential!

Pros: The ability to easily read and format text without the lack of editability in Notepad. The ability to use for HTML and CSS is a superior plus.

"Awesome product, been using it for 5 years"
Pros: simplicity, cheap, it's NOT Micro$oft. When you email for support the actual developer/owner will email you back.
Cons: I only get a couple of icon choices, the Swiss flag is the best, but I'd like a new one.
