More than 30 utilities comprise this handy suite of tools, though some are barely better than the Windows functions they replace. The 12Ghost tools share similar small dialog interfaces of radio buttons and small information-laden tabs, making the utilities easy to learn.
The 12Ghosts programs are grouped in three packages: Security, Executive, and Cruise. The 10 security functions range from very useful (a file shredder) to the pretty needless (a program to create blank windows over animated ads). A disk cleaner, a pop-up cleaner, and a password recovery tool work well and sport small footprints. The executive suite programs are primarily file-management tools, though Zip is barely more useful than freeware options. The Cruise package is the largest and designed to automate functions. Some are not appreciably better than current Windows functions, but the desktop SaveLayout, screen clipper, and information Lookup perform needed functions. We liked Lookup best, as the tool put ZIP code, state information, and handy conversion tools in a small dialog box. The demo version does include out-of-date information though.
The advantages of the 12Ghosts programs are their small sizes, easy installations, and similar interfaces. A controller program makes it easy to implement any of the programs. This is a demo we can easily recommend testing, if for no other reason than that uninstalling it is easy enough, should you decide it's not worthwhile. You may really like some functions, though others could leave you unimpressed.
