uTorrent is a powerful and efficient BitTorrent client for Windows. Most of the features present in other BitTorrent clients are present in uTorrent, including bandwidth prioritization, scheduling, RSS auto-downloading, and Mainline DHT. Additionally, uTorrent supports the protocol encryption joint specification and peer exchange. Unlike many torrent clients, it does not hog valuable system resources--typically using less than 6MB of memory, allowing you to use the computer as if it weren't there at all.

Contains full Vista support, Local Peer Discovery and various fixes and enhancements. Fix: rare crash bug with malformed UPnP response and downloads stalled in rare cases. Version 1.7.7 build 8179 is a bug fixing release.

• "Light and quick downloading"

Still not for the faint of heart, this torrent utility is one of the easiest to use. The uTorrent executable adds a directory and some option information to your PC, but it is still small enough to run off an old USB key.

The memory footprint for uTorrent is very small, and system resources are barely touched. Our testers found that IP phones were difficult to use with a torrent, but uTorrent's simple button interface makes it easy to pause downloading.

The most difficult aspect of using a torrent client is finding the torrents, but included are both a torrent search bar that links to MiniNova and a handy RSS feed download function. Subscribe to select feeds, and uTorrent automatically downloads files as they publish. Adding, starting, pausing, and listing torrents takes merely a click or two each. A speed guide helps you test your ports and adjust system settings for optimal performance.

This is the first version since uTorrent was bought by BitTorrent, and there are some tried-and-true BitTorrent options available, such as Local Peer Discovery and DHT Network. uTorrent isn't overwhelmed with bells and whistles, but it includes enough features to make it the torrent program of choice for novices, intermediate, and advanced users.

  "Fast and lightweight"

  Pros: I was recommended this bittorrent client by a friend a while ago and I'm extremely happy with it. I love the interface, there's no clutter, and it's very small and fast to download and use. There's nothing about it that makes it complicated for a first time user of BitTorrent clients.

  Cons: None so far :D

  "It's a great software for Torrents."

  Pros: uTorrent, in my observation, DOES download torrents much more faster than Bittorrent itself. Also much more stable. Interface is quite attractive, very easy to use.

  Cons: I've got NO IDEA how or why the Yahoo AntiSpy detected uTorrent as TROJAN. Maybe It is just a false positive. But who knows...

  "Light & tight torrent down loader."

  Pros: If you want a small fast torrent down loader this is the program for you. Low RAM & CPU usage is a must for a program that is running for hours.

  Cons: Would be good to have the addon's that Azureus has.

  "Did not work for me yet."

  Pros: Uses very little memory.

  Cons: I had difficulty getting it to work. Couldn't seem to be able to connect to the network. The help file didn't help much. Much easier to use Limewire.
