There's no disputing that iTunes boasts an excellent feature set right out of the installation package. However, if you really plan to stretch its powers to the max, you may want to think about downloading a few third-party applications. Download.com offers a number of iTunes add-ons that add functionality and convenience to this already-great jukebox for the Mac. Here are a few you can check out.

Fetch Art for iTunes
This handy tool works by grabbing the cover art from Amazon's music listings so you don't have to search for it manually. Once Fetch Art for iTunes grabs the cover, it gives you the option to approve or discard what you find. The system isn't perfect, so you may not be able to find the more obscure titles in your collection, but most cover art for most albums will be only a few clicks away.

Synergy
When you're working on something else and you want to change the song, switching over to iTunes can be distracting. Synergy is an elegant little app that solves this problem by putting basic iTunes controls in the menu bar, letting you skip ahead, replay the last song, or show track information in a small floating window. You also can assign system-wide hot keys for controlling iTunes without the mouse.

RadioLover
RadioLover rips your favorite audio streams into separate MP3s and even includes a scheduler for recording your favorite streaming-radio shows when you're away from your Mac. Once the recording finishes, just import the resulting files into iTunes as with any other MP3, and you'll have hours of new music for free. If you like streaming content on iTunes, this is a must-download. Click here to download RadioLover. |

iTunes Monitor
One of iTunes's greatest features is its ability to share music across a local-area network. But you can never tell who's listening to your library and what songs they're checking out. If you're a naturally curious person, iTunes Monitor reveals the answer to this mystery by letting you see who's listening to your music through a display that lists all connected users. iPodRip
For legal reasons, iTunes does not allow you to rip songs from your iPod back to your Mac or to iTunes itself. But if you have two computers loaded with music you downloaded legally (at work and at home, for instance), why shouldn't you be able to share tracks between the two? iPodRip solves the issue, letting you upload and download music from one interface using SmartSync. You can even use filters to import desired file types, including MP3, AAC, and Audible. Most iPod owners will find this app an extremely useful companion to iTunes.
