Just alt-click on any word or phrase on your screen (e-mail, browser, any Office program) and get instant answers, facts and explanations in a concise AnswerTip information bubble. Click the 'more' button and access Answers.com, a completely free online reference library, offering over 180 authoritative encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauri, and other trusted sources. Topics include science, legal, business and health terms as well as bios, maps, news, weather and more. Alternatively, type a topic into the included IE Toolbar or AnswerBar, a convenient pop-out utility docked on the side of your screen.

Editor's review of 1-Click Answers

While this tool is oh-so-helpful in searching for information via Answers.com without interrupting your work, results aren't always only one click away. 1-Click Answers provides two search options: you can enter a keyword or phrase into the Answerbar, a discreet bar that docks on the side of your desktop, or you can use Alt-Click to pull up a small window for a brief summary.

The great thing about 1-Click Answers is that you can search for information directly from an e-mail, a Microsoft Office program, or browser. Our searches never came up empty, and the information on Answers.com was thorough. The Answerbar worked like a charm, yielding quick results each time we performed a search. The Alt-Click function, however, was a disappointment, often producing a blank window that took a few seconds to load. Also, we found ourselves repeatedly hitting Alt-Click. It does give you the option of changing the hot key combo, but you still have to incorporate a mouse click, which didn't help the situation.

We ran into a glitch while performing a search in a Word document that caused multiple browser windows to open, but uninstalling and reinstalling the program seemed to fix the problem. Even though sluggish behavior and functionality quirks are minuses for 1-Click Answers, the easy-to-use Answerbar is a winner. By bringing a wealth of information to your desktop, this free tool is a worthwhile download for any user.

  Smart program

  Pros: 1-Click Answers is a very helpful addition to anyone's computer. It gives you quick results, with the option of researching subjects in great detail. This is a fantastic program for kids and adults who like learning. This program makes you smarter!

  Sir, I want to download this software but should work offline.

  Pros: This software I liked very much which helped me in my studies.But i want it to be used in offline(not to connect internet).So i liked it very much its very useful.

  Useful learning software

  Pros: Improved UI loads fast with Alt+click. The answerbar in the low right corner of your screen is easily accessible, hides into a small arrow when you don't need it and you can always deactivate it if you don't want it. Daily highlights right into your desktop from Answers.com are a good way to learn something everyday, from spelling, news and word of the day.

  Cons: The answers bar integrated into the Alt-click window would be nice
