Publisher's description of [V] Text Speed Reader

From ProjectShum: [V] Text Speed Reader is a program to help you accelerate the speed at which you can read text. Words are presented to you one at a time, in the same position, stopping your eyes from having to shift and refocus on every word as they would on a normal paragraph or line. Also the human brain is much suited for handling a serial stream of data. In fact the only way your brain handles text is by breaking it up into a serial stream before parsing and interpreting it. Speed Reader pre-processes and serializes text, saving your brain from having to do it itself. Punctuation is handled, an extra pause between words occurs for commas, and semi-colons;( ",;"). And an extra two pauses occurs for periods, question marks, exclamation marks and speech marks.(".?!""). These extra pauses allow you to take a mental breath. To read a file containing plain text, using [V] Text Speed Reader, simply open the file using the open button. MSword .doc files are currently not supported.

  Pros: Free and supposed to be add/spy free

  Cons: Failed to load control 'CommonDialog' from COMDLG32.OCX. Your version of COMDLG32.OCX may be outdated. .......

  Not as bad as I thought

  Pros: You can control the speed

  Cons: It displays only one word a time. The user should be able to select the number of words to be displayed

  Better than expected.

  Pros: Good presentation, notable performance changes.

  Cons: Few bugs in the software. Had to find a work around to avoid frequent crashes. No streamlined tie in for web browsers.
