Publisher's description of [FireLion] FrostShield

From FireLion:

Unwanted actions, converting audio/video files, bad programming error(s), malwares or working with compressed archives sometimes makes your CPU usage 100%. Because these processes completely consume the cpu, your system becomes sluggish to respond and using the computer for other tasks becomes impossible while these processes are running. This mean, your system will be down immediately. There is one way that you must press the restart button to reboot your system. Important datas still not saving will be lost without any confirmation. (FireLion) FrostShield keeps your PC smooth even the CPU usage is 100% loading.

Version 2 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

Editor's review of [FireLion] FrostShield

3 star editors rating

This software promises to eliminate those pesky times when your CPU reaches 100 percent usage and your system performs like molasses. FrostShield not only failed, but is also actually slowed our test machines, a big step in the wrong direction. The business-like interface is concerned only with setting the program's configuration. Its primary feature is an irritatingly slow fade-in.

It's easy to set options, but since they're barely explained, you may not feel comfortable doing so. Combine that with a complete lack of a local or Web help file and this program is sure to confuse novice users. You decide what FrostShield should consider as a busy CPU and how quickly it should jump in to tame the offending process.

FrostShield's only decent feature is pop-up notification of CPU-hogging programs. The publisher smartly excluded FrostShield applications from triggering the pop-ups as the program was a heavy drain on our test systems. Using this type of software you hope to improve system smoothness, keeping your PC from freezing. Unfortunately, this application has the opposite effect. FrostShield only improved system activity when it was uninstalled.

The application has a very stingy 10-use test period, but most users won't need that many tries to freeze out FrostShield. It's not simple enough for novices, not flexible enough for advanced users, and doesn't function well for anyone.
